I attended my first auction last weekend. You heard right. My FIRST auction. I’m a 30-something lover of all things old and had never been to an auction. Brian is an old pro. He was in “the biz” back in ‘Bama, so I had a great coach.
We scored some beautiful pieces! Brian already sanded this one.
This one may already be sold to our fabulously stylish neighbor. There are a jillion drawers behind those doors.
I’m thinking of painting this one a really light aqua and glazing it like crazy. It would make a great little bar! Again, drawers behind the doors. It looks like there are missing pieces on the right door, but someone placed them carefully in the top drawer for us.
I’ve been itching to paint something gray. I think this vintage Drexel chest is the perfect candidate!
I also bought a few pieces of Frankoma. I actually raised my hand and bid. Yes I did! I’m keeping one as a souvenir.
Everyone was so nice and so friendly! The owners and employees of the auction company, the other bidders. Everyone! I ate the best nachos, learned a lot, and had so much fun!
I’ll be posting some auction newbie tips this weekend. Stay tuned!
