The newest addition to our space at As Time Goes By is this chest on chest made by West Michigan Furniture Company. The Holland, Michigan company manufactured dining and bedroom furniture from 1889-1975. They were the first factory in the area to use electric lighting and, because of this, were able to operate 10 hours a day. While I can’t tell you what year this piece was made, I can tell you it is old and it is gorgeous! Solid as a rock.
I love this traditional style and the ivory paint color makes it so versatile! We distressed it just around the edges and skipped the glaze. The crisp color and clean lines of the piece were just perfect without it.
It may not look like it, but there are eight drawers, three on the bottom row. One is hidden behind the starburst detail!
